Llibre d’aparellar de Menjar

The Llibre d’Aparellar de Menjar is an extensive cookbook, most probably compiled and written in the mid-14th century and containing some three hundred recipes that reflect the tastes of the wealthy classes of the Catalan Middle Ages.

This is the oldest gastronomic manuscript to have been conserved in the Catalan language and one of the oldest in Europe.

The original codex consists of forty folios copied by a single hand in a libraria script.

The original manuscript is conserved in the Biblioteca de Catalunya.
